Standing in front of the stall
Put his tack on
He was ready
Warm him up
It was time
The green flag waved
Start with a graceful trot
Then a fast gallop
Shoot the first balloon
Remember to kick him
Keep a steady pace
Almost through the pattern
On the run down
10 seconds
Back to the stall
The water bucket full
Feed the horse
11 year old Tyler began competing in Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association (CMSA) events as a Wrangler in January of 2009 and loves the sport! He recently wrote a poem about Mounted Shooting for his Language Arts teacher. She was so pleased with his work, she entered it in a local poetry competition for area students. Tyler won second place for his free-style poem “Pistols Loaded” which reflects his interest in Mounted Shooting. After receiving a copy of Junior Shooters magazine from Kathy Holman’s dad, Tyler’s mom, Teresa, thought we might enjoy Tyler’s poem as well. I did and I hope you will as well.
The photo of Tyler is courtesy of Bobby Goode at a recent shoot in Roswell, New Mexico. Teresa says Thanks for spreading the news about Mounted Shooting.
